What the tracker does

The Workout Tracker reads the sessions your watch already records, scores each one with a single training load figure, and builds a season around your goal races. It is made for long endurance sports in the mountains: long-distance cycling, running, trail running, ski mountaineering and mountaineering.

This page is the overview. For the first run, step by step, see Setting up the tracker.

The current week in the tracker, with the sessions done and the sessions planned for each day

Sessions arrive on their own

Connect your watch once through intervals.icu and every new session is fetched automatically, whatever the brand. You can also drop files on the import box: FIT, TCX and GPX, or a zip exported from Strava or TrainingPeaks, up to 100 MB per file.

The import does the tidying. A bike computer and a watch that recorded the same outing give one session, not two. A home trainer ride or a treadmill run is recognised as indoor and keeps its training load. An outdoor session gets the weather of its place and time.

Resting heart rate, HRV and sleep can come from an Oura ring, and weight from a Withings scale. Both are optional.

One figure for the load

Training load (TL) measures how demanding a session was, from its duration and its intensity relative to your own threshold. One hour exactly at threshold is worth 100 TL. A ride with a power meter is scored from power, everything else from heart rate.

Each week shows the load done against its target. TL says nothing about which zone the time was spent in: time in zones, climbs and heart rate drift are on each session. The thresholds are yours, from your own tests: see Heart Rate Zones and Measuring Your Cycling FTP.

A season built from your goal races

Declare your goal races, the time you have on each day of the week, commutes included, and the sports you train in. The tracker generates the whole season at once: its phases, a load target for every week, and the sessions of the coming weeks, chosen among your sports only.

A season plan in the tracker, from preparation to two goal races

Then the plan follows what you actually do. When the weeks done drift from it, the next four weeks are recalibrated. The plan also adapts from heart-rate variability, resting heart rate and sleep when you provide them. A business trip or an illness can be declared, and the days it covers are adjusted.

You decide how much the tracker does: no plan, an analysis of the plan you follow, a plan it builds, or a plan written by a coach. The method behind the generated plan is in Creating your mountain training plan.

Three tabs

Training sessions is the calendar: the past weeks, the current one and, with a plan, the weeks ahead. Each day shows what was planned next to what was done. Opening a session gives its figures, its rank among your sessions of the same sport over the last twelve months, and its climbing analysis.

A trail race opened in the tracker: its figures, its rank among the sessions of the year and its climbing speed by gradient

History lists every session, with filters by sport and by duration. At the top, three charts compare the last twelve months with the two years before, in distance, elevation gain and time.

The History tab: the last twelve months against the two years before, then the list of sessions

Performance is the long view. The Hall of Fame keeps your races, with their map and their profile. Segments time the same stretch of ground again and again. Regularity counts your training days, week by week, over the last year. The charts, grouped into Running & trail, Cycling and Ski, compare your seasons: climbing speed by gradient and by heart rate, duration curves, aerobic efficiency.

With a coach

You can invite a coach from the Training Plan panel. Once the coach accepts, they write your planned sessions and exchange comments with you day by day. Training data is shared with them; recovery data (HRV, resting heart rate, sleep, weight) only if you tick it. Each access is logged on your side, and you can end it at any time. See Coaching.

English and French

The whole interface exists in both languages, with a switch in the header.

Your data

The tracker is hosted in the European Union. Your data is not sold and is not used for advertising. No other user sees it unless you invite a coach. Deleting your account deletes all of it. The detail is in the Privacy Policy.

What it is not

The tracker plans training and follows training load. It is not a medical device, and it is no substitute for medical advice.

Getting in

The tracker is invite-only while it is young. Setting up the tracker walks through the first run.
