Coaching
Most training platforms are places where a coach writes a plan and the software makes it readable. Montagneur starts from the other end: the season is built from your goal races, and it corrects itself week by week from what your body actually reports.
Coaching here means using that engine with someone who knows mountain terrain — not receiving a spreadsheet.
The approach
A season is not a stack of weeks. It is a structure that runs from your A races backwards, and it only survives contact with real life if it is allowed to move.
- Periodised from your goal races. Preparation, base, build, specialisation, transition — with strength work sequenced alongside, not bolted on.
- Measured in mountain units. Vertical gain, effort-kilometres and climbing rate carry the load, not flat distance. Ultra-trail and ultra-bikepacking are planned with the same logic.
- Corrected from your own data. Heart-rate variability, resting heart rate and sleep drive the weekly adjustment. A bad week becomes a lighter week automatically, before it becomes an injury.
- Built on your existing devices. Sessions arrive through intervals.icu, so the watch you already own stays the watch you use.
Who it is for
Athletes preparing long days in the mountains — ultra-trail, fastpacking, mountaineering objectives, self-supported bikepacking — who train around a job and a life, and who want the plan to bend when the week does.
It is not a strength-and-conditioning service, and it is not a substitute for medical advice.
What is available today
The training engine is live: it is what powers the Workout Tracker. The coached offer — a structured season built and followed with me, rather than generated alone — is being put together now, and the number of athletes will be deliberately small at the start.
Interested? Write to contact@montagneur.com with your next goal race and its date. I will come back to you with what is possible, and when.
In the meantime, the knowledge base is free and stays free, and the tracker is open to try.
